Strategic Planning Committees
In September, District 65 issued a call to action for interested stakeholders to apply to serve on one of the strategic planning committees.
The plan will be developed in collaboration by five working committees with each one focusing on one of the following key areas: high quality teaching and learning; thriving workforce; safe and supportive school climate; family and community engagement; and financial sustainability. In addition, there is an External Advisory Committee (EAC) made up of a broad and representative group of community partners. The EAC will receive updates on the entire process and then provide feedback and insights to support the work going forward, and ultimately, feedback on the final planning document. Over 300 interested stakeholders submitted applications during an open nomination process to serve on one of the strategic planning committees. Each committee is comprised of 14 members (including two co-chairs) and has at least one parent, teacher, principal, district administrator, and community members. Committees also include subject matter experts in each area of focus and reflects the diversity of our community.

How were committee members selected?
Committee Members were selected through an open nomination process. Applications were reviewed by committee chairs, superintendent's cabinet, board liaison to the planning process, and were ultimately appointed by the superintendent. Committees were made to represent a balance of applicant background and expertise. There were many talented, qualified people who met the criteria to serve on one of the strategic planning committees. However, with only 65 slots, the district was unable to invite many people who met the criteria and would have been terrific committee members. Click here to view the committee rosters.
We encourage all of our stakeholders to remain engaged in the process and to get involved. More information is available under the Engagement Opportunities section of the strategic planning website.
